For several years they were friends on the national ski team, but also competitors on the ski track.
When Frida Karlsson’s friendship with Charlotte Kalla comes up, Frida suddenly feels a new worry.
– I hope so. It would be very boring otherwise, she tells Expressen.
In March 2022 revealed Charlotte Kalla37, that her successful career as an elite athlete was over. During her 16 years at the top of the world, she managed to take part in four Olympics, collect nine medals from there, win three World Cup golds and take a legendary Tour de Ski victory.
The answer about Charlotte Kalla
In the last years of his career, Kalla often fought with and against Frida Karlsson25. They won, among other things, a WC gold in Seefeldt (4×5 km) together. Despite the age difference of twelve years, they have been able to spend time together as friends, not just colleagues and training partners.
When Frida recently talked to Expressen about her phone habits, a clip that was published on their social media, she was asked questions about her background image, her screen time and her favorite app, among other things. But also who her most famous friend in the contact list was. After thinking for a while, she came up with the answer.
– Yes, what is the definition of that? It’s probably someone from here. Not so many celebrities. I don’t know… maybe Charlotte! It’s still pretty good. I don’t have that many celebrities on my list, she says.

The evening newspaper’s follow-up question causes Frida to become a little thoughtful and perhaps even a little worried. Probably because Kalla hasn’t competed in two years and the two therefore haven’t seen each other as often, but they probably have some contact anyway.
Expressen: Does she answer when you call?
– I hope so. It would be very boring otherwise, says Frida Karlsson and laughs a little nervously.
A new best friend
Otherwise, it’s another friendship that dominates right now, at least if you take a look at Frida’s phone. She has previously been pronounced “bestie” with Maja Dahlqvistbut now it is another skater who appears in pictures everywhere in Frida’s mobile. Both her background picture and her last picture taken depict the same person: Lynn Svahn.
– The latest picture? Linn up on the coffee table. Yes, it really is a lot of Linn, says Frida Karlsson happily.

I don’t think you need to worry, Frida. Of course Charlotte will answer the phone if you call. I am convinced of that!
