Competitions in the Norwegian Holmenkollen await and it is time for something completely new for the women’s skiers. Now, for the first time, the world elite on the women’s side will make up a five-mile race instead of the three-mile distance race that usually takes place.
– The five mile in Holmenkollen is something really special and it will be the first time that we ladies get to tackle that particular distance at the World Cup. I have ridden five miles in the long-distance cup on previous occasions and it has been a challenge, says WC queen Andersson to Radiosporten.

Frida’s confession
Frida Karlsson was still incredibly excited to run the five-mile before the season, but now she realizes with horror mixed with delight what awaits her this weekend.
– When I saw it on the competition schedule at the beginning of the season, I cheered over a five-mile in Holmenkollen and that it would suit me perfectly. But now I have to admit that I’m feeling a little mushy and maybe not super hungry. But ask me again in a few days, and maybe there will be a different answer, says the Swede to the radio channel.

It is precisely the fact that it is so close to the skiing WC and two weeks of intense competition that makes Karlsson tremble before this weekend’s showdown over five kilometers in Holmenkollen.
– Yes, you missed that (WC) a bit when you looked at the competition schedule there at the beginning. But it’s the same for everyone, so it’s just out and enjoy the 50 kilometers, she says with a laugh in the interview.
