Frida has become a new ambassador for the organization Wimt to inspire new, young skiers.
“It is a great honor for us to present Frida Karlsson as ambassador. Petter Northug inspired Frida to become the Champion she is today and it is evident that Frida inspires our future Champions”, they write in a press release.
The role model Frida
The Swedish national team star was on hand during the classic Fjälltoploppet in Bruksvallarna to meet the children who also dream of reaching as far as she did.
– For me, this is perhaps the most important competition of the year. This is where my dream of becoming a skier was born. When I got to ride in the same competition as the big stars, like Petter Northug who became my biggest idol, says Frida in a video on Instagram, see it below.
– Therefore, it feels very important to me to be back here, with all the children and see if I can try to plant a seed there, with them. And try to give back to ski Sweden.

Frida Karlsson is also reminded of the time she met her childhood idol as a 13-year-old Peter Northug and was caught by a TV camera, see the video below.
“My biggest idol is Petter Northug, so I’m very happy. It’s so much fun,” she said then.
During the recent Fjälltoploppet, it is also clear who is the big favorite among the children. “Frida Karlsson”, most young people answer when asked who inspires them the most.
