Frida Karlsson shocked the Swedish people when she showed the horror pictures.
Now the 23-year-old explains what actually happened on the ski trail.
When she got the blood flowing during the first training session.
The Swedish skiing star Frida Karlsson can look back on a very successful ski season this winter. For the first year in a long time, the Swedish skiing star managed to stay relatively injury- and disease-free, and then the successes came along.
Karlsson’s success
The 23-year-old impressed with several fine podium places at the World Cup and then came the season’s great achievement when she won the entire Tour de Ski, as the first Swede since Charlotte Kalla did it in 2008. Frida then managed to maintain her good form until the 2023 World Ski Championships in Planica.

There, Karlsson won a medal in all the races she entered and won double WC silver and double WC bronze in Slovenia. About a month ago, the ski season ended and since then she has recovered, including with a trip abroad to Curaçao.

Frida’s blood drama
But in the days it was time to get to grips with the new season and it was a really dramatic start to the pre-season. During the first training in Östersund, the accident happened directly to the unlucky Frida Karlsson, who was beaten bloody.

The Swede showed the horror pictures on social media where she was bleeding profusely from both her nose and mouth. She had also covered the track and the snow with blood all around her.
“Then we start a new training year,” Frida wrote on Instagram along with the nasty blood pictures on her.

“Clump Thing”
Several of her teammates and followers asked on Instagram what actually happened and Karlsson replied with the following words:
“Who else”
“A lumpy thump”
But it was still very unclear what had actually happened on the ski tracks that made the blood flow so much. The day after the accident, the 23-year-old finally gives the explanation for the bloody drama during the training run.
“Calm down, just a classic stick-between-the-skis,” writes Frida on Instagram.
