Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Frida Karlsson won her second straight race in the Tour de Ski.
But in the midst of the joy of victory, she was also able to show her big heart.
And send your heartwarming support to a rival and friend, SportExpressen reports.

Swedish cross-country skiing is well on its way to its first overall Tour de Ski victory since 2008. Then Frida Karlsson dominated the last few days and won two straight races, which resulted in a big lead before the decider.

Frida’s great success

Wednesday’s chase start was a pure blue-yellow display as the 23-year-old sprinted away from everyone and in the end won by far. But in the midst of the victory celebration, Karlsson also shows his big heart by comforting a rival in the tracks and a friend on the side.

It’s about German Victoria Carl which has had a very tough Tour de Ski competition so far. The 27-year-old, who broke through in the 2022 Olympics with gold in the sprint relay, had tears in his eyes already during the first day of the mini-tour.

The Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet then revealed that just hours before the Tour de Ski, Carl received the worst imaginable news that a close family friend had passed away. The German and the late man were close to each other and Carl considered dropping out of the tour after the sudden news of his death.
– There have been problems, I couldn’t focus on skiing today, she admitted after the first race.
– I will probably compete in Oberstdorf, then we’ll see. I didn’t have a good feeling today. I feel tired in both head and body.

On Wednesday, the next tough blow came when Victoria Carl fell during the start of the hunt and injured her knee so seriously that she had to be taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital. Frida Karlsson became good friends with the German during a pre-season camp in Torsby last summer and is really suffering with her competitor and friend after the tough news of her death.
– I haven’t met her since then. It’s unfortunate when something like that happens, says Karlsson to SportExpressen and admits that she will show her loving support to her skiing friend.
– I get to show some love and give her a hug.
