They are two of the big names in Swedish skiing.
Frida Karlsson has now had to take over the baton after Charlotte Kalla.
But Frida never forgets her very first meeting with the idol Kalla.
Few can argue against that Charlotte Kalla is one of the biggest in Swedish cross-country skiing. The Swedish hero has won three Olympic golds, three World Cup golds and an incredible 37 World Championship golds, as well as collected a whopping 22 Olympic and World Cup medals in various denominations during his successful career.
Called career
She is one of our most beloved athletes in the 21st century and we all remember her feats on the ski slopes over the years. But since a year ago, she has given up her skiing career and handed over the baton to new, blue-and-yellow stars like Jonna Sundling, Ebba Andersson and Frida Karlsson.

The latter has already started his skiing career brilliantly with a WC gold, five WC silver, four WC bronze and an Olympic bronze as well as an impressive overall victory in the Tour de Ski from 2023. Karlsson and Kalla are actually the only Swedish skiers to have won the mini-tour through the ages.

Frida’s picture
Frida, who is 12 years younger, had a couple of years with Charlotte as a mentor in the national skiing team and has also won WC gold together during the relay in Seefeld 2019. But Frida Karlsson will never forget her first meeting with the idol Kalla as a child.
– I don’t think you remember it, but I remember it, Frida says to Charlotte in an old TV interview, which you can see below.
– I got to take a picture with her and I was very satisfied.

– Well, haha. Where is it?, Kalla asks.
– I think it’s Härnösand, actually, replies Karlsson.
– But what fun! It’s absolutely wonderful, says Kalla again.

Frida is clearly embarrassed as she stands next to Charlotte and remembers back to the moment when the picture was taken many years ago.
– I am completely embarrassed. I try to maintain a high status but fail, she says and realizes how far she has come competing alongside her childhood idol.
– I must have had dreams then and I’m living my dream right now.
