She has been forced to follow the Tour de Ski from the TV sofa.
Now, however, it looks like Frida Karlsson will be able to compete again shortly.
– Everything has gone very well for Frida during Christmas, says her personal trainer Per Nilsson to Expressen.
Just a few weeks before the World Cup premiere in Ruka announced Frida Karlsson25, that a sudden foot injury forced her to rest and cancel the high-altitude camp in Italy her national team mates were due to go on. Instead, she got rehab training on a bicycle saddle in Tenerife.
Frida Karlsson was in charge of the Tour de Ski
No one knew when Karlsson would be back on snow, or if she would even be able to compete before the turn of the year, but remarkably, she made a comeback much earlier than expected. In the premiere in Bruksvallarna, she came second in the 10 km classic – six days later she won the same distance in the World Cup premiere in Ruka.

Since then, Frida has only participated in two races. Partly the sprint in Ruka, partly in the 10 kilometer freestyle race in Lillehammer. She was supposed to be in the skiathlon as well, but had to cancel due to injuries. She has also skipped the competition weekend in Davos as well as the Tour de Ski in order to recover in time for the new calendar year.
Then Frida Karlsson is back in competition
Now it appears that her competition break has had an effect. She spent Christmas at home in Sollefteå, where it was both training and rest. Her personal trainer Per Nilssonwho is also the coach of the German women’s national team, says that the comeback is approaching.

The competition weekend in French Les Rousses (January 17-19) is the first after the Tour de Ski. The plan is for Frida to ride both distance races there. Her foot injury is currently under control and she continues to rehab every day. What happens after the World Cup weekend in Les Rousses they leave unsaid at the moment.
– It is a bit unclear. But the idea is that she will be on a high after Les Rousses. Then we’ll see if she goes down to one of the World Cup competitions in Cogne or Engadin, which are decided the following weekend, says Per Nilsson.
How wonderful that Frida is finally back again. Really hope that she can be there in about two weeks and that she doesn’t suffer any setbacks. It would be so boring for her. Keep fighting and working hard and you will get paid for your work, Frida. Hey hey!
