Last year there were big headlines when the Swedish national team stars Frida Karlsson, Lynn Svahn and Maja Dahlqvist broke with Sweden and left the national team. They refused to train with the rest of the national team colleagues and chose their own training schedule during the pre-season.

This year, all three are back in the national skiing team again, but now another noob from Sweden is coming again. When the same trio opts out of the SC in roller skiing during the pre-season which is currently underway in Umeå.

Unlike the rest of the national skiing team, Frida, Linn and Maja instead go with rival Germany to northern Italy for a three-week training camp at high altitude. And once again there is talk of the Swedish breakout trio who choose to go their own way.
– Yes, I know what it looks like, says Frida to the evening newspaper with a laugh.

Training with a rival
The Swedish national team management has previously opened for a more individually adapted pre-season and that all skaters do not have to follow exactly the same training plan in the summer. Which now opens up Frida, Linn and Maja’s training camp to Italy.

The first two weeks they will train on their own, but in the third week they will join the German women’s national team, led by Frida Karlsson’s personal trainer Per Nilsson.
– Mmm, the timing was so good that they would be there the last week. So it turned out perfect – even if it was more of a coincidence, says the 23-year-old in the interview and confirms that they will train together with the Germans.
