It’s been a tough time for Frida Karlsson after the skiing WC in Planica and the medal success there. When the World Cup was about to start, a historic race awaited in Holmenkollen with the very first women’s five-mile race ever.

But this weekend the setback came when both Karlsson and Ebba Andersson had to stop due to illness. Frida apparently felt hung over according to reports and threw in the towel for safety reasons.

While it was about a cold for Ebba. But later on Sunday there was still great news for the Swedish national skiing team.

Frida’s turn
Frida Karlsson felt more energetic and gave the go-ahead to Tuesday’s World Cup sprint in Drammen, Norway. But now comes another nightmare announcement and a new twist in Norway.

On Monday, the national team announces that the 23-year-old will not compete any more and will go home immediately.
“After training in the morning, Frida Karlsson still does not feel ready to compete. She is now going home from Norway to prepare for the competitions in Falun,” the national team management writes in a press release.

The next World Cup competition in Falun starts already on Friday.
