Frida Karlsson in drama with weeks left to premiere – may now be forced to do like Norway: “We don’t take chances”

Less than a month until the season premiere.
Then Frida Karlsson and Moa Ilar ended up in the middle of the chaos.
Now they can be forced to follow Norway’s example.

Soon the long-awaited cross-country skiing season will start. November 17-19 is the Swedish premiere in Gällivare. The following weekend awaits the host cup premiere in Ruka. Now the Swedish skiers are fully charging to be in top form for the start of the season.

Sundling’s display

During the pre-season, the riders have spread out quite a bit. Maja Dahlqvist has been spending a lot of time in the US with her American boyfriend Kevin Bolger. Ebba Andersson’s the wish has been to keep up a lot at home in Östersund. A group with, among other things Lynn Svahn, Frida Karlsson and Jonna Sundling traveled to Livigno for high altitude training.

Right now, a large part of the Swedish national ski team is in Vålådalen for a training camp.

During Tuesday, the skaters ran a training competition in classic style sprints. On their Instagram account, the national team shared the scenes. On the men’s side it was Edwin Anger who took home the victory, with Marcus Grate and Truls Gisselman behind. Among the ladies, Jonna Sundling was, as so often before, the strongest when it comes to sprinting. Sundling finished closely followed by Johanna Hagstromand Emma Ribom went in third.

Karlsson in the chaos

Frida Karlsson and Moa Ilar has chosen to skip the training camp in Vålådalen. Instead, they are back in Livigno for more high-altitude training. When the duo landed in Italy, they shared pictures of bare ground and yellow and orange trees. Now, instead, Karlsson and Ilar find themselves in completely white landscapes and snow chaos. Between Thursday and Friday, up to 44 millimeters of precipitation is expected, and the Swedes are now at risk of being snowed in.

The sudden snow drama has caused the Norwegian cross-country ladies to act. They decided to end their high-altitude camp in Livigno two days early and travel on Wednesday to Zurich.
– According to the weather forecast, half a meter of snow will fall in a short time. We will drive over several mountain passes and they will be closed soon. We have a lot of passengers, a lot of luggage and trailers. That’s why we don’t take any chances, says the Norwegian national team coach Stig Rune Kveen to Adresseavisen.

Whether Karlsson and Ilar will make the same decision as the Norwegians is unclear.
