Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson’s big sawing – of the new decision that changes everything: “Should think again”

The Tour de Ski is in full swing.
But in the middle of the competition, the skiers now receive sad news.
– I think that’s boring, says Frida Karlsson to Sportbladet.

The first three races have been completed, and the Tour de Ski now moves from Toblach in Italy to Davos in Switzerland. There will be a sprint and chase start before the Tour moves on to Val di Fiemme for the finish.

Karlsson & Andersson

So far it is Lynn Svahn of the Swedes who impressed the most. The 24-year-old has taken a victory in the sprint and came third in the pursuit start of 20 kilometers. She also became the best Swedish (ninth) in the distance race, which was branded as a Swedish failure.

Frida Karlsson got off to a rough start at the Tour de Ski, but got off to a great start in the pursuit start and had the second fastest time of all. Ebba Andersson, who just returned from illness, has not had it easy and is 14th overall. Now the duo, and all other cross-country skiers, also receive sad news.

Sad news

FIS has announced that there will be no five-mile race in Holmenkollen in the 2024/2025 season. The decision comes after few skaters took part in the prestigious race last year, as it was shortly after the WC in Planica. Also next season, the World Cup competitions in Holmenkollen will take place the weekend after the WC in Trondheim. There will thus be no five miles in the Norwegian ski area.

It upsets the Swedish riders.
– It’s very sad. Really, really really boring. I don’t think it feels funny at all. I heard that today, it’s a bit sad to hear actually, says William Poromaa to Sportbladet.

Frida Karlsson agrees.
– I think that’s boring. I think it’s better to postpone it for another week and have a quiet weekend after the WC, she says.

Ebba’s criticism

Ebba Andersson is on the same track.
– They should rethink that. Why postpone Holmenkollen a week after the championship in such cases? Shoot it, says Andersson to the evening newspaper.
