American actress Matthew Perry died from the acute effects of ketamine, the coroner’s office says.
Ketamine is mainly used in health care as an anesthetic, but the drug is also used illegally for the purpose of intoxication.
Los Angeles County Coroner statement according to the report, other contributing factors to death were drowning, coronary artery disease and the drug buprenorphine, which is used in opioid addiction replacement therapy.
According to the coroner, the death was an accident.
Perry, who rose to fame in the 1990s from the popular Frendit television series, was found in his hot tub on October 28. The actor did not respond to stimuli and was later pronounced dead by the authorities.
Perry, who played Chandler Bing in Friends, known for his sarcastic humor, was 54 years old when he died.
Spent millions on rehab
Last year, Perry published an autobiography, Frendit, rakkuitet i big kiamaa tätä, which appeared in Finnish only a few days before the actor’s death. In the book, he talks about his decades-long addiction problem, which caused him serious health problems in recent years. In 2018, the actor’s colon burst, and he was hospitalized for several months.
