Frenchwoman Alice Finot crowned European champion in the 3000m steeplechase

Frenchwoman Alice Finot was crowned European champion in the 3000m steeplechase this Sunday June 9 in Rome, her first international title at the age of 33, less than two months before the Paris Olympic Games. Coming late to the high level, Finot won in a storm in 9min 16s 22. She beat the German Gesa Felicitas Krause (9mn 18s 06) and the British Elizabeth Bird (9mn 18s 39). She brought the French team its third medal of the European competition, the second gold after Cyréna Samba-Mayela in the 100m hurdles the day before.
