(Finance) – I French trains are preparing to enter the Italian high-speed market: the Société nationale des chemins de fer (Sncf) was presented today at RFI, the Italian network manager, requests for a framework agreement. This was announced by the general director of Tgv-Intercity of the Sncf group, Alain Krakovitch.
Sncf already operates in Italy with a cross-border service between Paris, Turin and Milan: “We will combine this with the entry into the domestic market”, explained Krakovitch, adding that the first trains on the Italian AV tracks will arrive “progressively from 2026” on the Turin-Naples and Turin-Venice routes.
