French Prime Minister wants to tighten immigration regulations News

According to the new French government, immigration can no longer be controlled.

The new prime minister of France Michel Barnier says that the country needs to tighten its immigration and integration policy.

Barnier opened the goals of his new government to the lower house of the French Parliament today, Tuesday.

– We are no longer able to control immigration well enough. That’s why we’re also not meeting our goals in the field of integration, says Barnier.

The Prime Minister says he is merciless towards people smugglers who exploit people’s suffering and despair to encourage migrants to cross the English Channel and the Mediterranean Sea illegally.

Barnier’s speeches are the result of the case that shocked France in recent weeks, in which a 22-year-old Moroccan man who received a deportation order is suspected of raping and murdering a 19-year-old woman in a Parisian park.

France regularly issues deportation orders to migrants who have entered the country illegally. Only seven percent of the decisions are implemented, which is clearly lower than the EU average (30 percent).
