In Haiti, evacuations of French nationals continue. Shots continue to ring out in neighborhoods, while attacks increase, particularly against police buildings.

These are the most vulnerable French nationals, elderly people, children, who were able to leave Haiti thanks to special flights coordinated by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reports our correspondent in Port-au-Prince, Marie André Belange. They were transported to a national navy vessel to reach Martinique.

Given the closure of the airport, helicopters are ensuring the departure of French people from the Haitian capital. According to the Quai d’Orsay, more than a thousand French people, including a large number of dual nationals, live in Haiti. The French embassy in Port-au-Prince remains open, but is not receiving new requests for the moment. French nationals who wish to leave Haiti can report this to the French embassy in Port-au-Prince.

Meanwhile, Haitians experienced an eventful weekend. Shooting was reported in the Fort National district where a police building is located. In the town of Tabarre, armed bandits shot at a police building.

For my part, unfortunately, I could not leave. I live with my wife who is Haitian in Port-au-Prince. We are not yet registered as a married couple, although we have been living together for a number of years now, so logically I cannot fall under the law allowing a French national to leave with a member of his family who is a foreigner.
