French legislative: “the abstention shows a democratic disaffection which is confirmed”

a political but also financial issue for the parties

In France, voters were called to the polls on Sunday June 12 for the first round of legislative elections. It is the coalition of left-wing parties, the New Popular and Social Union (Nupes) which comes out on top with a narrow lead. She won 25.75% of the vote. Just behind, the presidential majority won 25.66% of the vote. In third position: the extreme right. 19% of the votes go to the National Rally. In fourth position, Les Républicains won only 13.2% of the vote. But the main lesson of this election is abstention. More than one in two French people (53%) did not vote. Erwan Lestrohan, consulting director of the Odoxa polling institute, delivers his analysis on this first round.
