French alpine skier Cyprien Sarrazin suffered a brain hemorrhage and has undergone surgery, says the French Ski Federation. Sarrazin fell during skydiving training in Bormio, Italy and hit the slope with his back first. The momentum only stopped in the safety net.
30-year-old Sarrazin was conscious after the shock. He was transported by helicopter to hospital. Bad news came from the hospital in the evening.
The French Ski Federation said Sarrazin suffered a head injury that required urgent surgical treatment. He was bleeding inside his head and had surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain.
Cyprien Sarrazin has won a total of five Alpine Skiing World Cup competitions in his career, four of them in speed sports.
