Freeman family purchases Queensway East property

A property at 71 Queensway East in Simcoe has been purchased by the Freeman family.

The property includes the former Hoy’s Restaurant, a Pita Pit eatery and a multi-bay car wash.

Russ Freeman confirmed the purchase on Friday.

Declining to put a dollar value on the deal, Freeman said plans call for the property’s buildings to be leased.

Hoy’s Restaurant closed on Christmas Eve .

Restaurant manager Howie Yin told The Reformer in November that he expects to open another eatery in a different location in 2023. The business and property were owned by Yin’s father, Tony Yin, who opened Yin’s Restaurant on Main Street in Waterford in 1971.

Restaurants in Waterford and Port Dover still carry the Yin name but no family members are involved in the ownership or management, Howie Yin said.
