Spain has decided to offer citizenship to more than 200 prisoners who were released by Nicaragua on Thursday and brought to the United States, announced Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares.

Among those released are members of Nicaragua’s opposition and regime critics. Nicaragua’s parliament has voted to strip the freed people of their citizenship.

According to Albares, those released must now be contacted and the citizenship process promised to go quickly.
