The first 100 participants in the Mitchell’s Bay Antique Car, Truck, Motorcycle and Tractor Show will receive a special treat to mark the event’s 10th anniversary.
While the earliest vehicle owners to register usually receive a free goodie bag, an anniversary hat will be included this year. The new item will also be for sale.
The event will be held July 15 at Mitchell’s Bay Park from 10 am to 3 pm
The first 100 participants also receive a five-inch by seven-inch dash plaque for their vehicle.
Karen Miles, who organizes the event with the Mitchell’s Bay Area Association, said they usually have more than 200 vehicles registered.
With other classic car shows in Chatham-Kent held throughout the summer, Miles said people come out to the Mitchell’s Bay event because it’s also open to tractors, motorcycles and trucks.
“Coming out to Mitchell’s Bay, there’s lots to do while you’re out here, too,” Miles said. “You can visit the beach or go on the walking trail. There are water sports for the day.”
The event also features door prizes, vendors, food concession and a beach splash pad.
The Mitchell’s Bay Area Association uses proceeds from the event for community projects, such as habitat restoration, trail projects, improvements to the beach area and “the beautification of Mitchell’s Bay,” Miles said.
“Last year, we replaced all of the picnic tables at the pavilion and some at the beach,” she said. “Some of them were the handicap accessible (tables).”
The association also fundraises with the Mitchell’s Bay Open Bass Tournament, held July 7 and 8 this year.
The July 15 vehicle show is open to vehicles made before 2003. The registration form can be downloaded at www.mitchellsbay.org.
Registration is $10 both in advance and on the day of the show between 8 am and 11 am Those who pre-register will be entered in a draw.
