Soroptimist International of Grand Erie is offering a free virtual learning series aimed at helping women.
The series, which covers a range of topics, began Oct. 20 with a session on managing your time and continues weekly until Nov. 10. Sessions begin at 7 pm
Here’s the rest of the schedule:
• Oct. 27 – Managing Your Money.
• Nov. 3 — Managing Your Stress.
• Nov. 10 – Managing Your Live Your Dream Award Application. The award is the signature program of Soroptimist International.
“The last session is focused particularly on helping eligible candidates complete and submit their application,” program chair Renee VanderHarst said in a statement. “We’ll be awarding, at minimum, one bursary worth at least $1,000 – but we hope that we will be able to help several women.
“Of course, if others want to partner with us and contribute financially, we would appreciate the opportunity to help more women live their dreams.”
This first-time learning series was made possible by a grant from Soroptimist International of the Americas. The grant also made it possible for Soroptimist to provide laptop computers to local community partners, including women’s shelters.
VanderHarst said the intention is to remove barriers to education – making access easier and setting up women for success by providing the tools and confidence they need.
Women eligible for the bursary are those who are the primary financial support for themselves and one other dependent, including children, spouses, partners, siblings or parents. They also have financial need and are enrolled in or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program.
Applications are open until Nov, 15. Apply online at: bit.ly/LYDA-apply.
