Free school bus orientation sessions offered on Saturday

Annual school bus training sessions for first-time riders in junior kindergarten to Grade 1 is being held in Chatham and Sarnia on Saturday.

The first-time rider orientation day and school bus safety program is being offered to pupils in both the Lambton Kent District and St. Clair Catholic District school boards in partnership with Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services from 8:30 am to 11:30 am

The 30-minute sessions run continuously beginning at 9 am

Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the free session, where pupils will watch a brief animated school bus safety video.

Afterward, the children will have the opportunity to board a bus and go for a short ride.

Safety trainers will be onsite to talk to parents and kids about school bus safety, safe street crossing and how to evacuate a bus in an emergency, officials said.

The Chatham-Kent session is being held at Ursuline College Chatham, 85 Grand Ave. E.

The Sarnia-Lambton session is at Great Lakes secondary school, 340 Murphy Rd.
