Queen Margaret will abdicate her crown in the afternoon at a meeting of the Danish government. The venue is Christiansborg Palace, where the Danish Parliament is located.
The change of power takes place when Margareeta signs a declaration of abdication. At the same moment, Crown Prince Frederik becomes King, and his eldest son Christian becomes Crown Prince.
The new royal couple first greets the invited guests inside the palace, after which they move to the balcony of the palace. There, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will introduce the new king to the people, who will give a speech.
After this, the royal couple travels in a horse-drawn carriage to the royal Amalienborg Castle.
