Prince Carlsson, 75, was sentenced today for his latest fraud tour targeting the elderly.
Luleå district court convicts him of 17 crimes against around ten victims living around the country.
The penalty is imprisonment for two years and six months.
Since 1983, he has been sentenced to prison for a total of 42 years and eight months. Throughout, it has been about serious fraud, theft and also sexual abuse.
Vincent Carlsson, or Prince Carlsson as he is now called, has therefore been called Sweden’s worst fraudster.
And now another sentence is added to his long criminal record.
“Of reckless nature”
The prosecutor had argued that all of the accused interruptions, which were aimed at the elderly, should be considered serious. This is because the acts were of a particularly dangerous and reckless nature and that they took place systematically. Luleå district court agrees with that assessment, it appears in the judgment that was handed down today that.
The district court further writes that the crimes took place systematically.
“His actions have thus been with the intention of getting money. The acts for which he is now being sentenced have a greater geographical spread and it has emerged that he was traveling in a car when he was arrested by the police. He thus committed the crimes in order to finance his lifestyle. “
Age discount on the penalty
The prosecutor had requested a prison sentence of not less than four years. The District Court assesses that the total value of the penalty corresponds to three years’ imprisonment.
But the district court also has to consider what the law and practice say about the defendant’s old age and poor health.
And when it is weighed, the court comes to the conclusion that the sentence should be reduced by one and a half years, to imprisonment for two and six months.
In the latest episode of the podcast Aftonbladet Krim, Prince Carlsson tells, in recordings from the trial, how he usually goes about his frauds.
