Basel-Mulhouse airport was evacuated for “security reasons” just before 12 o’clock on Friday. At 12:30 the airport announced that it had reopened and that flights would gradually resume.

According to sources for the French radio channel France Bleu, it was a bomb threat. Last year, the airport was exposed to several bomb threats, which resulted in the terminal being evacuated.

The airport is located in France, but close to the Swiss border and has both French and Swiss customs control. In 2023, the airport had over eight million travelers.
