President of France Emmanuel Macron announced on Thursday that he plans to appoint a new prime minister in the coming days.
Macron also said he plans to continue as president until the end of his term. His presidency ends in 2027.
Macron told about it in his televised speech.
Political opponents have called for Macron to resign. Macron said in his speech that the far right and the hard left have joined forces in an “anti-republican front” to topple the government.
Former Prime Minister Michel Barnier resigned after his minority government lost a vote of no confidence in parliament.
