France: the Versailles congress hall exceptionally opened to the general public

France the Versailles congress hall exceptionally opened to the general

The Palace of Versailles is one of the most visited French monuments in the world. On average, seven million tourists walk its alleys every year, its sumptuous gardens and its famous Galerie des Glaces. But we know less that this temple of the monarchy also houses a high place of the Republic: the Congress hall, built in 1875. This is where the deputies and senators meet for the President’s speeches or to vote the revisions of the Constitution. An assembly where compromises and majorities are legion at the time of political instability in the country. It is for the first time open to visitors.
