With a long delay on the usual schedule, the resigning Prime Minister Gabriel Attal transmitted on Tuesday, August 20, the “ceiling letters” indicating to the ministries their spending credits for the year 2025. Gabriel Attal proposes the same credits as last year: 492 billion euros of spending, which is equivalent to 10 billion in savings, given inflation. While Emmanuel Macron has not yet appointed a new Prime Minister, several left-wing leaders denounce the sending of these “ceiling letters”. The presidential camp, for its part, defends a simple “working basis” before the budget debate in Parliament.
