Like every June 18, France remembers General de Gaulle’s call in 1940 for resistance against Nazi Germany. This call is marked at Mont Valérien, west of Paris, one of the main places of execution of resistance fighters. This Sunday, the Elysée announces in a press release the upcoming pantheonization of Missak and Mélinée Manouchian. The remains of the couple of resistance fighters will join the Pantheon in Paris on February 21, 2024. It is an unknown part of the Resistance that is hailed: the participation of foreign militants, who died for France.
