France in the final – gets to defend the World Cup title

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Morocco faced France in the second World Cup semi-final. Morocco already made history as the first African team to ever reach a semi-final, but had the chance to make even more history.

But it was the French who would take the lead – already in the sixth minute, through Milan defender Theo Hernandez. In the second half, however, Morocco would take over the match completely, and pour in chances against Hugo Lloris in the goal cage. But that was not to be, and France would instead put an end to the match.

With barely a quarter of an hour left in the match, the reigning world champion extended the lead, after a solo raid by Kylian Mbappé who played forward to substitute Randal Kolo Muani.

2-0 was the result and Morocco gets to play the bronze medal match – while France plays its second World Cup final in a row, the first national team to do so since 1962, when Germany won for the second time in a row.
