France, which is hosting the Olympics this summer, gave a storm warning about its competition condition by beating the Finnish women’s national basketball team in the national match by no less than 79 points.
France beat Susiladies 129–50 (69-23). The teams will meet again on Monday.
The Finnish women’s national basketball team collapsed in front of the French defense with no less than 35 losses, 22 of which were losses by France. Finland’s shooting percentages remained weak, with only 27 percent (14/51) of the shots in game situations.
The number of passes the team makes says a lot about France’s effective attack: The home team made a whopping 41 passes that led to the basket.
– France was numerically better. It was influenced by France’s fantastic first half and our mental collapse during it. In the big picture, this showed the team – and on a personal level also the players, what needs to be improved, head coach Ilkka Palviainen commented in the association’s press release.
– With their defense, France squeezed the air out of us and forced us to lose the ball. The opponent’s situational toughness and preparedness was at a completely different level, which most of the players are used to. It caused a lot of uncertainty on the field, Palviainen estimates
In France, width was found for Corinthian size. Seven players scored more than ten points; Valeriane Ayayi (12/4), Janelle Salaun (14/3), Gabby Williams (12/1), Marieme Badiane (13/4), Alexia Chery (11/3) and Iliana Rupert (11/5).
The number one figure on the field was a 198-centimeter super promise born in 2005 Dominique Malonga, whose evening balance was 25 points and 5 rebounds. Malonga scored his points with insane accuracy: 12/13 doubles, 1/1 free throws.
