Never has an electoral campaign been so dominated by the international context as the one currently taking place in France. There is, of course, the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, but also this awareness of the intertwining between domestic policy and foreign policy. And a few weeks before the presidential election, the debates are particularly tough on the foreign policy of the president, now a candidate. Despite his diplomatic activism, Emmanuel Macron did not achieve the much hoped-for de-escalation in the case of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
