The number of migrants rescued at sea in the north of France jumped almost 30 % in 2024, totaling 6,310 people, according to an annual assessment published Thursday, February 13 by the Maritime Prefecture of the Manche and the North Sea. In total, 45,203 migrants were involved last year in an assistance or rescue at sea in the Strait of Pas-de-Calais separating France from the United Kingdom (+26 %), according to this assessment.
