France, 2nd quarter GDP rises more than expected by 0.5%

France production still down in April

(Finance) – The French GDP in the 2nd quarter of 2022, doing better than expected. According to the preliminary reading released by the French National Statistical Institute (INSEE), GDP should have registered a 0.5% increase after -0.2% in the 1st quarter. The figure is higher than estimates of analysts, who indicated a + 0.2%.

Expenses for household consumption they scored a +0.2%, after the + 0.4% of the previous quarter and compared to the -0.6% expected by the market. Domestic demand made a nil contribution, while foreign trade made a positive contribution equal to +0.4 points.

The trend growth is 4.2% from the previous 4.8% and is higher than the 3.7% expected.
