(Finance) – It was signed today at Palazzo Piacentini, in the presence of the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy with delegation for Space and Aerospace Policies, Adolfo Urso, the framework agreement between theItalian Space Agency (ASI) And Energy System Research (RSE)This is what we read in a note from Mimit.

The agreement, which was signed by the President of ASI, Teodoro Valenteand from theCEO of RSE, Franco Cotanaaims to pursue common objectives in the space and aerospace field, dedicated to all energy-environmental applications, in particular aimed at development of more accurate solutions and tools for the mapping of renewable energy sources (hydroelectric, solar, biomass, geothermal) and for accurate dynamic information on energy systems and infrastructures. The initiatives, activities and programs will be implemented jointly and in a coordinated manner.

Specifically, the collaboration will involve monitoring the distribution of existing energy plants and identifying areas suitable for the development of renewable energy generation plants. Observing the Earth from space will be very useful not only for energy planning purposes, but also for environmental aspectsfor the measurement and monitoring of the Earth’s albedo and the control of solar and infrared radiation, for the purpose of mitigating climate change, through the joint and coordinated implementation of initiatives, activities and programs.

“This agreement fits perfectly into the new space policy that the Meloni government has been implementing since the beginning of the legislature – he Minister Adolfo Urso underlined -. We have in fact allocated significant resources to theEuropean Space Agency, as well as to the Italian Space Agency, allocating the whole 7.3 billion euros for space programs until 2026. The framework law on Space, which is now being considered by Parliament, places Italy at the forefront in Europe in the new space realities and will allow companies in our country to best seize the development opportunities that exist in the Space Economy. This agreement signed today between ASI and RSE – these are the words of the Minister – is particularly important because it aims to pursue common objectives in the space and aerospace field, with particular attention to the latest generation energy applications, the development of alternative solutions for the mitigation of climate change and the monitoring of resources”.

The observation of the Earth from Spaceadded Urso “becomes an indispensable tool for developing a sustainable policy and make our companies more competitive, also with reference to scientific-technological cooperation projects with North African countries, in full harmony with the Mattei Plan”.

“Today’s signature represents a further confirmation of the role of space activities as an element of development and growth in different sectors of society and the economy – recalls the President of ASI, Teodoro Valente -. It is increasingly strategic to use Earth observation data for the development of services useful for monitoring resources, implementing service plans for the management and identification of suitable sites for the use and exploitation of raw materials. With the RSE partners we will work together not only for a better control of the distribution of the networks, but we will also make use of our skills for a cooperation that takes into account activities that are attentive to the theme of climate change and the optimization of water resources. Of no less importance is the theme of renewable energies: space, and Italy with its national champions, in the use of alternative energy has given a strong boost to the development of high-performance solar cells, which can also be used on land”.

“The collaboration with ASI represents a significant step towards integrating space technologies into future energy solutions. Combining mutual skills and know-how – he declared Franco Cotana, CEO of RSE – we will be able to develop innovative solutions to address the energy and environmental challenges of our time, developing and implementing innovative projects for the country’s transition, which will also contribute to the mitigation of climate change. Our common goal is create synergies that lead to a more sustainable and technologically advanced future.”
