Fourteenth Arno Wallaard Memorial Its great that his name lives

MEERKERK – “When he returned from track training with friends in Amsterdam, on the highway near Nieuwegein, his heart stopped.” With that simple sentence, father Aco Wallaard looks back on the tragic event that struck his family in February 2006. He lost his son Arno that day, on the threshold of a professional career, only 26 years young. Arno became, against his will and thanks, the namesake of the cycling race Arno Wallaard Memorial, with start and finish in Meerkerk. Saturday is the 14th edition.
