Threatened editors-in-chief – sentenced
A man who has written that the editors-in-chief of Flamman and Dagens ETC should be hanged is now being sentenced for illegal threats, writes Dagens Nyheter.
The man wrote in October 2023 on the platform X, formerly Twitter, that “everyone who was involved in the Israel hug” should be hanged and that this also applied to Leonidas Aretakis and Andreas Gustavsson, editors-in-chief of Flamman and Dagens ETC respectively.
The two editors-in-chief reported the threat to the police. The Södertörn district court now states in its judgment that the act is “at prison level” because those who have been threatened are journalists. However, the man receives a conditional sentence, along with 40 daily fines of SEK 190, because he has not been previously punished.

– We are involved very early today, but it is clear that somewhere along the way, the cases disappear into a black hole in an administration, and we have no way of controlling that. It is clear that it is a problem, says Jimmie Åkesson to Expressen.
