Last Sunday, a family of four came to Hudiksvall hospital for treatment. According to the Gävleborg region, they came in with serious stomach symptoms.
– We currently do not know what caused the illness, said Johnny Hillgren, operations manager for anesthesia on Monday.
Changed criminal classification
One child died at the hospital and the other three were transferred to the Academic Hospital in Uppsala and the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm for further care.
The police first investigated the incident as causing the death of another. But at lunchtime on Tuesday, the police write on their website that the crime classification has been changed and they are investigating murder.
Suspected external influence
“The police suspect that some form of external influence is the reason why these four people have ended up in the condition that forced them to seek care,” the police write.
The police now confirm that the four who sought treatment at Hudiksvall’s hospital on Sunday belong to the same family. They are native to Hälsingland.
One of the two children in the family died at the hospital after the family arrived on Sunday.
The police still have no arrests or suspects in the case.
