Reuters: Hungary demands removal of Patriarch Kirill from EU sanctions list

Hungary is blocking the finalization of the EU’s new list of sanctions against Russia because it does not want sanctions against the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.

According to sources in the news agency Reuters, Hungary demands that the patriarch Kirill must be removed from the sanctions list. Kirill has strongly supported Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Hungary has already delayed joint sanctions by EU countries demanding a continuation of incoming Russian oil. The EU therefore reached a compromise on the oil ban. The principles on new sanctions adopted by EU leaders earlier this week have yet to be finalized.

Zelenskyi: 200,000 children abducted in Russia

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi claimed in his video speech Wednesday night that there would be about 200,000 children among the Ukrainians deported to Russia.

Children are separated from their families or taken to orphanages.

– The purpose of this is not just to steal people, but to make them forget Ukraine so that they do not return.

Zelenskyi threatened Ukraine with punitive culprits.

– Ukraine shows on the battlefields that Ukraine cannot be conquered, our people will not give up and our children will not become the property of the occupiers, Zelenzkyi shouted.

The president also said that 243 children have died so far. 446 are injured and 139 are missing.

– The figure may be even higher, because Ukraine does not have a complete picture of the territories occupied by Russia.
