The French athletics team had a good day at the world relays held in Nassau in the Bahamas on May 4 and 5, qualifying four of its five teams for the Paris Olympic Games. The mixed 4x400m, women’s and men’s 4x100m and women’s 4x400m relays all validated their qualification for the Paris Games, while the men’s 4x400m relay, world vice-champion last summer in Budapest, was unable to secure qualification due to the injury of the second runner in the middle of the race. They will have another chance to validate their ticket this Sunday, May 5 during a repechage race. These global relays offer 14 qualifying places for the Games in the five relays contested on the track. Four series were run on May 4 for each discipline: the first two teams in these series qualified directly for the finals on May 5 and for the Olympic Games.
