four opposition leaders give Lubumbashi a signal for joint action

Four Congolese opposition leaders and declared presidential candidates in December 2023, undertake to work together for the completion of the ongoing electoral process in the country. They are Matata Ponyo, Moise Katumbi, Delly Sesanga and Martin Fayulu. They made this statement on Friday afternoon in Lubumbashi in the south of the country where they have been meeting since Thursday.

It is a commitment for the interest of the country that the four political opponents made in front of hundreds of activists. The declaration is read by Olivier Kamitatu, director of cabinet of Moïse Katumbi. “ We, the signatories of this declaration, undertake to remain united in the unity of actions to bring to a successful conclusion the struggle of the Congolese people for a true rule of law. »

While the electoral process is already underway, Ensemble pour la République by Moïse Katumbi, Ecide by Martin Fayulu, Envol by Delly Sesanga and LGD by Matata Ponyo join forces to say no to the revision of the Constitution. They come back to their demands, in particular the recomposition of the Constitutional Court. But also “ the consensual designation of the facilitators of the CENI bodies, the urgent conduct of an external audit of the identification and enrollment operations in progress with a view to the production of an integrated electoral file, reflecting the demographic realities of each electoral district . »

In this two-page document, the 4 opponents painted a gloomy picture of the management of the country by the current power. They denounced, for example, the instrumentalization of institutions, the insecurity and the will of the authorities to want, they say, to dismiss certain declared candidates for the next presidential election. While denouncing several evils that plague the country, the four leaders are already planning a first joint demonstration on May 13 in Kinshasa to demand a transparent and fair electoral process.
