Several people were then arrested on suspicion of terrorist plans with firearms. The crime suspicions and men were linked to the Islamic Cultural Association’s basement mosque in Tyresö. At the end of last year, four men were charged with several terror -related crimes.

All four are sentenced to prison

The four men Elias Johansson, 25, Rasmus Johansson, 23, Omar Atia, 21 and Elyas Hakamali, 63, were sentenced today to prison for participation in the terrorist organization.

Was released for preparation offenses

The three younger men were also charged with preparation for terrorist crimes, something they were released for. According to the indictment, they had planned to carry out an act in the name of the Islamic state, however, the court considered that there was no clear plan.

– This is a comprehensive and complex investigation with international elements where I consider myself to be able to prove crime. Part of the evidence consists of the fact that a person has sworn allegiance to IS and actively searched for minor perpetrators who would, among other things, carry out attacks, says Senior Prosecutor Lars Hedvall, who is the preliminary investigator.

Hedvall also believes that there is connection to organized network crime in the case.

– Among other things, through weapons supply, says Lars Hedvall.

Säpo buggled the room

In interrogation, Elya’s Hakamali, 63, consistently denied that he discussed weapons or terror, but Säpo had more evidence than he expected. The basement mosque in Tyresö had been buggled with secret microphones.

The prosecutor said that the recordings could hear how terrorist acts were planned and that you were given instructions from IS in Somalia to strike Jewish goals. The Imam must, in the prosecutor’s opinion, have acted for IS and given advice and guidance on how attacks should be performed.

The brothers converted and radicalized

The brothers Elias Johansson, 25 and Rasmus Johansson, who are “full Swedish” converted to Islam and in interrogation their mother stated that they became increasingly radicalized and advocated violent Islamist extremism.

The older brother should also have changed after a shorter prison sentence. After being released, he must have started going to the cellar mosque in Tyresö every day.

– It was like a poison for him, the mother tells Säpo

Together with several other people, they traveled to Morocco in 2023, after the trip they changed and began to wear religious Muslim attire. A few months later, the elderly of the brothers tried to join IS in Somalia, but he was stopped at a stopover in Turkey.
