Four people were injured when a man armed with an ax began attacking diners at three nearby Chinese restaurants in the Auckland suburb of Albany, New Zealand, on Monday night.

A 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene. The motive for the attack is unclear, but the man appears to have attacked guests at the restaurants at random, according to witnesses. The police believe that the suspect acted alone.

The condition of the injured is said to be stable.
