Four eagle attacks in Norway during the week: “Abnormal behavior”

It is testimony to Norwegian NRK that describes how golden eagles have attacked on four occasions – in several places in Norway.

Most recently on Saturday, a one-year-old girl was attacked, who had to get several stitches in the back of her head after the incident. The eagle was euthanized.

– It is, until this happened, something that we do not know at all has been documented, says Daniel Bengtsson, bird protection officer at Sweden’s ornithological association Birdlife.

Despite the fact that the phenomenon is new, Daniel Bengtsson does not think that it is about the eagles looking to hunt.

– It is extremely much more likely that this is misdirected defensive behaviour.
