Four dead in floods in India | News in brief

At least four people have died in floods caused by heavy rains in northeastern India, say representatives of the country’s government.

The floods have affected more than a million people. Monsoon rains cause destruction every year, but according to experts, climate change is contributing to an increase in extreme weather conditions.

Indian authorities have declared a state of emergency in Assam and its neighboring states.
