Perth County OPP officers made four arrests during a long weekend traffic campaign that targeted impaired driving in the Stratford region.

A 17-year-old Milverton resident was the first driver charged after officers responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash in the Road 131 area of ​​Perth East during the early morning hours of Sunday, July 2.

The teen was charged with two counts of impaired driving and later released from custody.

The second arrest made during the Canada Day long weekend involved reports of a motor vehicle in a ditch in the area of ​​Line 34 in Perth East shortly after 10 pm on the Sunday. After speaking with police, the driver, a 24-year-old Kitchener man, was arrested and charged with two counts of impaired driving.

The third driver arrested – a 48-year-old London man – was pulled over Monday morning during speed enforcement in the area of ​​Road 164 in West Perth. That driver was charged with two counts of impaired driving, as well as speeding.

The final long weekend arrest also involved a single-vehicle collision in Perth East. After officers responded to the late Monday evening crash, the driver – a 55-year-old Zorra Township man – was arrested and charged with impaired driving.

All four drivers were issued 90-day driver’s license suspensions while their vehicles were impounded by police for seven days.
