Forum user gets banned for 100,000 hours, comes back after 11 years to have the same discussion

Forums are there to have discussions and express opinions. Some people overdo it and get banned for it, sometimes for quite a long time. But one user waited patiently to reignite the discussion after 11 years.

what is happened? Something Awful is an American website where you can publish blogs, news, pictures or reviews. However, the site is mainly known as a forum where people can discuss all kinds of things, always with a humorous undertone. However, the site is also known for the fact that moderators have a lot of power over bans.

As PCGamer reports, a certain user was banned on February 14, 2013, because he wished death on an author of the role-playing game World of Darkness in a discussion. The user did not receive a permanent ban, but an incredibly long one.

How long was he banned? A mod banned him for 100,000 hours. That’s almost 4166 days, or more than 11 years. The user seems to be a very vindictive person, though, because he was patient and returned immediately after the ban to reply to the old post.

This time span is almost as long as the time between GTA 5 and the announcement of GTA 6: This is how long we have been waiting for GTA 6: This is everything that has happened in the last 10 years since GTA 5

After 11 years he returned

Apparently, the user hasn’t forgotten anything and has been thinking about the discussion constantly, because after 100,018 hours he returned and simply continued the discussion from 11 years ago. He posted again in the same forum, quoted a statement from 11 years ago and started trolling again.

In his first post after his punishment, he wrote that he did not believe that a special set of rules for the game would not be released in 2016. But that he would be happy to wait. That is, after 100,000 hours, he was not discussing as if it were 2024, but as if he had never been banned and had traveled back in time. Here, at least, he was right, the set of rules was released in 2018.

However, he seems to have given the ban a lot of thought, as he explains in a Google Doc document. There he talks about how he is ashamed of his behavior back then and how he wanted to respond to it 11 years later in the spirit of the forum. In those 11 years he has reflected on himself a lot and changed a lot.

In the doc he also explains his approach. He has entered the date of the unban in his calendar. He logged in on the date, wrote the new post and immediately logged out again. He has no plans to continue being active in the forum. The new survival game Once Human has a different approach to users who don’t behave: Once Human bans 430 players and publicly pillories them.
