Fortnite brings the characters from Avatar to the game, but they forgot the best one

Fortnite brings the characters of a popular animated series into the game. And even though it looks like a really good crossover, fans are still disappointed because an important character was simply forgotten.

Along with the hotfix for Battle Royale update V.29.20, Fortnite items were introduced on April 12, 2024. And so the characters and taming techniques from the series “Avatar – The Lord of the Elements” were brought into play.

Elements is scheduled to run until May 3rd, 2024 and during this time you can use bending techniques to master the elements of water, fire, air and earth and complete element orders. You can find the exact information about elements on the official website (via fortnite.com).

Which characters are there? As the trailer shows, Fortnite brings the following characters into the game:

  • The avatar Aang.
  • The waterbender Katara.
  • The firebender Zuko.
  • And the earthbender Toph.
  • Many fans are happy about this crossover and are already describing Fortnite as the best avatar game we’ve gotten. Unfortunately, previous attempts to create a game in the world of Avatar have not been particularly successful or satisfactory. Such as the game “Quest for Balance”, published in 2023, which was largely negatively rated on Steam, among others.

Who is missing from the game? But even though the crossover looks really good and will certainly make Avatar fans in particular want to finally fight as a tamer themselves, one character just didn’t make it into the game. Sokka, Katara’s brother and an important member of the “Gaang”, was simply not taken into account in Fortnite.

And I find that a real cheek, considering that Sokka is the only “real” warrior among the friends.

Who is writing here? MeinMMO author Linda has been a big fan of Avatar since she was a child and loves repeating the series regularly.

Sokka isn’t a tamer, but his sword is still in Fortnite

Sokka may not have any bending powers himself, but in my opinion that’s no reason not to include him in the game. On the contrary, I think the crossover would have worked really well with Sokka. Because unlike Aang, Katara and Zuko, Sokka has to concentrate on fighting techniques and weapons. So it would have been perfectly compatible with the weapons in Fortnite.

Instead, at one point in the trailer, Toph is seen running with two massive hammers in her hand. And the young earthbender is probably the least dependent on extra weapons of all. After all, she could simply hit her opponents with massive rocks.

One could perhaps justify simply leaving Sokka out because they wanted to concentrate on the tamers. Instead, they even brought Sokka’s “space sword” into the game as a reward. A sword that he forged himself and that has quite important meaning for him.

Another really nasty move if you ask me.

The community is also complaining that Sokka is missing from the game

What does the community say? Even though there is great enthusiasm about the crossover, many players miss the warrior from the Southern Water Tribe. This is clear from the comments under the trailer (via YouTube).

One user simply quotes Sokka himself and writes: “I can still fight!” At one point in the series he stands up for himself, because unfortunately he is sometimes simply ignored because he has no powers. In a reply to the comment, another user agrees that they are simply treating Sokka disrespectfully here.

When asked about Sokka, the user crashingcoyote notes that it is called elements and then of course asks the corrected question, which element does Sokka tame? One answer to that is simply: “Boomerang”. Another user replies: “The element of surprise”. Crashingcoyote then admits that Sokka would have been simply too powerful with his boomerang.

Either way, many fans would have been happy to see the warrior in the game. What do you think? Do you miss Sokka in Fortnite or do you think the developers did everything right?
