When the deadline passed overnight on Thursday, the European Commission had no objections to the proposal to allow small-scale sales of beer, wine and spirits in connection with visits to a microbrewery, distillery or winery.
This means that the government can now proceed with the new legislation as planned.
– The government makes a decision on a bill next week that I agree to the Riksdag, and farm sales can thus be introduced in Sweden from June 1, says Social Affairs Minister Jakob Forssmed (KD) to TT.
At the same time, the go-ahead from the European Commission does not guarantee that the new law cannot be tested against EU law.
Others are still free to report Sweden for violating the internal market, by, for example, stating that farm sales discriminate against foreign manufacturers of alcoholic beverages.
